Tampa Bucket List

July 11, 2015

Even though I left Florida almost a month ago, my memories of the food and places are still with me. These are a few places I made sure to go to before I made the move. (with the help of this list).

Mazzaro's Italian Market
This beloved St. Petersburg market is home to all things Italian: meats, cheese, pastries, wine, pasta and sandwiches. The sandwich line at the deli was too long for me so I opted for a pistachio cannoli and a spinach and cheese bread and both were so incredibly delicious. Jeffrey later picked up a pignole cookie, which was also equally incredible.

Yummy House
This is the to-go place for authentic Chinese in Tampa.

Locale Market
No offense to Tampa Bay, but my culinary adventures haven't always turned out to be delicious as I had hoped. However, Locale Market, a gourmet market plus food court plus bar and restaurant, was always a haven of delicious and inventive food.
My favorite item to get was a nori wrap: a hybrid between a sushi roll and a burrito. Locale Market was also where I first tried alligator, in the form of an empanada.

MMM Bap Food Truck
Korean cuisine, on a food truck? Yes, please!

Datz
A place to sample fun culinary concoctions. They even have a bacon flight sampler. (And I totally ordered the mac 'n cheese stuffed meatloaf---but not as amazing as you might imagine it to be).

Sunday Morning Thai Market
Every Sunday at the Thai Buddhist Temple, Wat Mongkolratanaram, in Tampa is a market along the water with a wide variety of Thai food offerings. From curries to noodles to pastries, there are dishes to satisfy any palate.

El Gallo Grande
Blood orange margaritas + freshly made guacamole.

Free Pie Wednesdays at The Village Inn
My friends and I came as often as we could remember to go for free pie at The Village Inn. A fun place to hang, late on a Wednesday with some tasty diner pie in tow. (I even left home with a free, entire pie once!).

Magic Kingdom
Living less than 90 miles from the Happiest Place on Earth, how could I not take a day trip out to Disney World? Worth. Every. Penny.

I'll miss you St. Petersburg and Tampa. The sun, the water and even the little geckos will be fondly missed. And especially my friends---old and new. xoxo
