32.

October 28, 2015

The effects of Patricia made for quite a rainy birthday but that didn't stop the Chung Twins from celebrating in style with pre-storm/pre-birthday cupcakes, a Hello Kitty birthday cake, Korean fried chicken and even a sleepover.
The day before the birthday, I ventured out to Northwest Houston for work, which led me to a cupcake bakery that I wanted to try 3 years ago but couldn't get to since it's way out in the burbs (25 miles from the city). Treat! Cupcakes had been on a Top Cupcakes in Houston list and so I hoped it would provide us with some delicious pre-birthday cupcakes.
Twin Sista requested either a limoncello or tiramisu cupcake so I chose a tiramisu, while I decided on my usual: a banana cupcake which was their chunky monkey cupcake. Each cupcake is $3.75.
Both cupcakes were not too sweet, fluffy and pretty tasty. They also were both filled, which added even more yumminess to the cake. The tiramisu cake was almost a little bland and the banana cake was in the realm of banana bread---which is a no no in my book. AND Twin Sista blames me for a somewhat melted frosting since I left the cupcakes in the car while I had to work. But in my defense, it wasn't too hot out but I suppose even in 70+ degree weather, the cupcakes inside a car fell victim to hot car syndrome.
Even with the somewhat melted frosting, they were delicious. A very decent cupcake in Houston but too bad the bakery is not actually in the city loop. If Treat! was closer, this would definitely be my go-to bakery for birthday/get well soon/thank you/need-some-sweets cupcakes.

On a side note: I was reunited with kimchi fries on the birthday at Dak & Bop. It's been a long three years and so happy to indulge in their spicy potatoey goodness.
