Cajun/Creole Fare:
Everything we sampled on our short trip was completely delicious. The true standouts were the wood-fired oysters and crawfish pie from Cochon and the chicken and smoked mushroom hash from Compere Lapin.
Beignets:
Fried, soft, pillowy and sweet---whether they're from the iconic Cafe du Monde or the gourmet ones from Compere Lapin, New Orleans's beignets don't disappoint (and they're so tasty when dipped in chocolate!).
Walking Sites:
We walked off our culinary adventures by taking in the French Quarter, an above ground cemetery and the antebellum mansions of the Garden District.
Snacks:
Between meal delights at the St. James Cheese Company and District Donuts and Sliders
And homemade Opera Cake (thanks, Mike!).
And a To-Go Meal:
my New Orleans muffuletta "souvenir" from Cochon Butcher
