A Lil Bit of Heaven

February 28, 2012

Cupcaking in Sarasota hasn't been very convenient. My plan was venture out to bakeries on my days off; however, 2 out of the 3 cupcake bakeries in Sarasota are closed on my "weekend" (Sunday-Monday).

Then there was the time I stopped by a bakery where I knew they had cupcakes and then they were out of cupcakes. Hmm...fate doesn't want me eating cupcakes I suppose.

Luckily, I had the morning off today and I got up to shop at an Asian Grocery, which happened to be a block away from Heavenly Cupcakes. They have two locations in Sarasota: Gulf Gate and Siesta Key. The menu offers ten cupcake flavors each day, one being a flavor of the month and each is for the small price of $2.50.
located at: 6538 Gateway Ave. Gulf Gate, Sarasota, FL
I decided to get two cupcakes: one for myself and one as a pick-me-up for a friend. (Cupcakes are always a good lil way to "Yay" or "Thinking of you" or "Hey, You"). I asked for a recommendation since none of the flavors seemed to  scream out to me and the lady suggested a Peanut Butter in Paradise, which is a chocolate cupcake topped with peanut butter frosting. I got my friend Mimi a Rudy, which is their carrot cake cupcake.
The lady at the store gave me a Crazy About Cupcakes Card, which is their frequent buyer card to earn a free cupcake after you purchase 10. I told her I was only in town for a month and she replied, "Oh you'll be back after you eat that cupcake."

I thoroughly enjoyed the peanut butter cupcake, which was not too sweet and had the PERFECT amount of frosting on top. It was moist and delicious, which almost made me agree with the woman that I might go back for more. It was kind of a trek to drive out there so I would for sure go back minus the commute.

(Mimi totally loved hers too).
