Back to the Old Neighborhood

July 25, 2011

Today I ventured out to Lincoln Park where I used to live for two years while at school at DePaul.  I was in the area for a much needed massage appointment but also used this trip as an excuse to go to the bakery Sweet Mandy B's.
located at: 1208 W Webster Ave, Lincoln Park, Chicago
This is just about the cutest bakery I've been to so far and probably has the most unique menu.  They have s'mores, candy apples in addition to the usual suspects: cake, pies and of course CUPCAKES!

To be honest, when I got there, I was almost dreading eating a cupcake.  The past four cupcakes have been pretty bad and I wasn't looking forward to another blah cupcake.  I ordered a Snickerdoodle cupcake, in honor of Sista Min, who loves baking/eating Snickerdoodle cookies.

The Snickerdoodle cupcake was a cinnamon sugar cake topped with a cream cheese frosting.  OMG, thank you, Sweet Mandy B's for restoring my faith in cupcakes.  This was an all together fantastic cupcake.  It was perfectly moist topped with amazing frosting.  It was just about the perfect cupcake.
Here's what makes this cupcake even more stellar: it was only $2.25.  The cheapest cupcake I've encountered so far.

I only wish that I was still a student living in the old U-Hall dorm just so I could go to this super cute bakery all the time.

By the way, I had my first Brazilian Steak House experience tonight.  Super tasty but now I have a major food baby.  So much meat...
