Leftover Turkey Tikka Masala

November 29, 2022

My usual go-to for turkey leftovers is this Chicken Tater Tot Hot Dish (but with turkey!). I actually did make it this year with leftover Friendsgiving turkey. But since I attended two Thanksgivings this year, I volunteered to take more leftover turkey to try out this Turkey Tikka Masala (which was also a way to also use up lots of leftover heavy cream I had).
A yogurt mixture marinades the turkey overnight and moistens it up to give it new life in this spice-filled dish. It is a little time consuming to make like many of the reviewers noted on the NY Times Cooking site but I think all the effort was worth it in the end---this dish was delicious and a nice getaway from the ubiquitous Thanksgiving flavors this time of year.
The Recipe: Turkey Tikka Masala from Samin Nosrat (this is a free version I found online but it is also available through NYTimes Cooking). If you want to lighten it up, use coconut milk and eat with riced cauliflower.
