Best of 2023

January 9, 2024

2023 was a year of reunions, travel, moving and lots of food adventures. I even kept a record of all the meals I made every week. There were definite trends and also forgotten recipes that I can't wait to bring back in 2024. The default meal of 2023: grain bowls--quick, easy and endlessly customizable.

Best of 2023:

Best Meal: Our trip to Portland, Maine over the summer had so many amazing meals but I can't stop thinking about this simple linguine dish with clams from Street and Co. Perfection!

Best Bite: The pillowy, buttery lobster roll from Eventide Oyster Company was so decadent but so incredible.

Best Food Adventure: The tour of the Lindt Factory in Switzerland was a chocolate lovers dream. Free samples of their truffles in addition to spoonfuls of liquid chocolate was about as wonderful as you could imagine.

Best New Baked Recipe: I loved King Arthur Baking Company's Cinnamon Coffee Cake. I also made the chocolate version, which was equally delicious. I need to try some of the other ten versions they have.

Best New Go-To Recipe: Alison Roman's Dill Bean Stew with Cabbage and Frizzled Onions was made several times in 2023 and I can't wait for the next time I make it. Packed with so much flavor that's a little tangy, oniony (in the best way) and hearty.

Best Cupcake: 10/10 loved this chocolate cupcake from King Arthur Baking Company in Norwich, Vermont. It was truly a stellar cupcake: not too sweet, simple yet so flavorful.
