It's strawberry season here in Kansas City! I willfully paid a small fortune for some local strawberries the other day at the farmers market and I do not regret it. They were magically delicious!
A few weeks ago, I used some grocery store strawberries to make this colorful strawberry matcha coffee cake, a spin on last year's King Arthur Baking's Recipe of the Year.
The fruity sweetness and the earthiness of the matcha surprisingly paired well together. I haven't had much success with baking with matcha but this was by far the best iteration of a matcha-baked good from my kitchen.
