For months, I've spent endless hours on Instagram searching for cute Christmas crafts. My logic was to get a head start before the busy holiday season (but then my feed was covered in Christmas content starting in early September). Here are some cute DIY gift ideas for this holiday season:
Felt Pom Pom Trees from fern.and.love. Adorable and also no-sew! Regular glue sticks work great (the creator suggested specially made fabric glue sticks but they show up opaque white so the clear option is better). Helpful tip: buy 1/4inch dowels and drill a 5/16" divet into the base. I used these small wooden ornaments for the base.
I assembled and brought blank felt trees home for Thanksgiving and had my nieces decorate their own. I loved how their individual creativity shined through while me, their auntie, just followed exactly what the example was online.
Nutcracker Candle Holder from interiorjems. I had my eye on these beautiful brass etched nutcracker candle holders from magnolia but they sold out a few weeks ago. Luckily I found this DIY on Instagram and they are a much cheaper and cute substitute for the fancy magnolia ones.
I used a combo of black and antique gold rub n buff to create a more brassy look. I also used these candle holders with an LED candle since a real flame near wood probably isn't a great idea.
Wooden Photo Ornaments from simple as that blog. I have been making these wooden photo ornaments for several years now and they're a delightful way to highlight a favorite memory from the past year. This tutorial is old but you can easily use Canva to create a circular photo that would fit the 4 inch circle wood ornament by using a 3x5 canvas on the canva app.
