Now that I've had the Bon Appetit Channel on almost every day for the past two months, it only seemed fitting that I bake their version of the ubiquitous chocolate chip cookie. Bon Appetit YouTube Channel star, Chris Morocco, developed BA's best Chocolate Chip Cookie a crispy-edged, chewy-centered cookie, which describes all the characteristics that I love about a perfect chocolate chip cookie.
The Recipe: Bon Appetit's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie
Recipe Notes:
- calls for browning butter
- uses dark brown sugar
- uses only baking soda
- 1 egg + 2 egg yolks
- no wait/rest time for dough. can be baked immediately.
- no stand mixer required (but I missed using mine, tbh).
Overall: I'll always love a cookie with brown butter and these were perfectly chewy while having crispy edges. I baked several after making the dough and then aged the rest of the dough for 70 hours to develop the flavor more. They were less sweet and had a deeper flavor after this wait period, although the recipe didn't ask for this step (I highly recommend doing that if you have the time and patience). 🍪🍪🍪🍪
