2022 was a year of fewer kitchen adventures since life got back to the busyness of pre-pandemic times but I traveled for the first time outside the central time zone since 2019, dabbled in pie baking, embraced thrifting and cooked/ate tasty things along the way. Here are some highlights from 2022:

Best Meal: A belated birthday meal at the new farm-to-table restaurant Acre here in KC was a delight! In addition to the most tender filet, the meal came with some theatrics!
Best New Baked Recipe: Chocolate Cream Pie from Samantha Seneviratne was pure chocolately goodness.
Best New Go-To Recipe: Open-Faced Tomato Sandwiches from America's Test Kitchen was a simple yet flavor-packed sandwich that I kept making all summer long.
Craziest Bite: The Cheez-It Cupcake from Sugargoat Bakery in Chicago was filled with cheddar, strawberry, chocolate, caramel and cheez-its and somehow it all worked together to create a unique and tasty treat!
Best Cupcake: I sampled three new cupcake bakeries this year and while they were all great, according to my ratings, the cupcakes from The Cupcake Doctor in Colorado Springs were my favorite of 2022.
